Why Whistleblow Through Us?

Sharing information or talking through a concern can be the first step to helping an organisation identify problems and improve their practices. But if you whistle blow via your company channel, how optimal can that be? Will your company bring you issues to light and make the change or will they just “handle” you?

What do you need to know as a whistle blower?

What is Whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing is the disclosure of information which relates to suspected wrongdoings, or dangers at work. This include criminal activities, corruption and bribery; financial fraud and mismanagement; miscarriage of justice, danger to health and safety; damage to the environment, failure to comply with any legal obligation or regulatory requirements; breach of internal policies and procedures; conduct damaging to the company’s reputation, unauthorised disclosure of confidential information, and the deliberate concealment of any of the above.

Protection For Whistleblowers

When you reach out to your Line Manager, HRD or the Whistleblowing Officer to raise a concern and/or complaint, you may remain anonymous, although you are encouraged to identify yourself. However, we will make every reasonable effort to keep your identity confidential in a manner consistent with conducting a thorough and fair investigation as may be required under the law. To assist us in maintaining confidentiality, however, it is imperative that you also practice discretion and refrain from discussing your consultations with your colleagues or fellow co-workers. We do not encourage employees to make disclosures anonymously. Proper investigation may be more difficult or impossible if we cannot obtain further information from you. It is also more difficult to establish whether any allegations made are credible. If you are concerned about possible reprisals should your identity be revealed, you have our assurance that proper and appropriate measures will be taken to preserve confidentiality.
